Solidbody / Production 2001 to current.
The founder and lead guitarist of the rock band Creed, Mark Tremonti, best known for their 1999 hit “Higher.” Whil he did not have some of the influence of the guitar gods, whose names were on signature models, he gave PRS guitars unique exposure due to the controversy among Christian music fans over whether or not Creed was a Christian rock band.
For this 2001 signature model, Tremonti chose PRS’s Singlecut as a starting point. This Tremonti model featured the four knob and three way selection switch controls that PRS had introducted on the Singlecut only a year earlier, Tremoti went with a thicker mahogany back than the regular model. The pickups were wound to his specifications and cosmetic touches included bird inlays on the fretboard, a pearl trimmed truss rod cover and Tremonti’s signature inlaid at the 12th fret.
Like the Singlecut model, Tremonti production was suspended while litigation between PRS and Gibson was settled. His signature model return to production in 2005 and continues in the PRS signature line.
