Having good condition frets is very important to the playability of your instrument. If the frets are badly worn you can get a buzzing and choking from your setup, as well as issues with intonation and sustain.

A lot of Guitar Techs and Luthiers shy away from fret replacement due to the time and complexity of the task. At AxeKool guitars we are happy to do all tasks involved with frets including replacement.

Full Refret

With a full refret we include a complete setup.
A new nut will generally be required, especially when going to larger fret sizes.
Includes fretboard cleaning, levelling and radius sand or change before fret installation.
We keep a good selection of fretwire in stock, from narrow vintage wire to jumbo, including Stainless Steel frets.

Sometimes it maybe only a couple of frets that need replacing and we are happy to match them up for you.
With a part refret we include a complete setup and a fret level.

Fret Dress, Recrown & Polish

A Fret Level, Recrown & Polish can often solve most problems, but if there is not enough fret height to level, the frets will need replacing.
We include a complete setup with a Fret Dress service.

Fret Sprouting

Fret Sprouting is a term used to describe when the ends of the frets extend beyond the edges of the fretboard. This can happen due to changes in humidity and temperature, causing the wood of the fingerboard to shrink.

Sharp Edges

Often on new guitars the fret ends are not finished correctly and can have sharp edges which can be sanded and smoothed.

Fretted to Fretless Conversion

We can covert your fretless fretboard to be fretted by filling slots with contrast or matching wood, inlay & epoxy.
