This pre-wired Fender Stratocaster David Gilmour 7 Way Vintage Wiring Harness is designed for replacing old electrics or upgrading the electronics of imported models or for use on DIY Kits. We take a massive amount of care and attention when putting our Fender Stratocaster David Gilmour harnesses together. Everything is fully tested before being posted to you.
What is the Dave Gilmour Switch?
Its what Dave Gilmour had configured on his “Black Strat”. The function of the mini toggle switch is to activate the neck pickup by putting the mini toggle switch into the on position – with the 5-way selector switch in position 1 (bridge pickup) then you will have the bridge and neck pickups working together, similar to a Telecaster. By switching the mini toggle switch on when the 5-way selector switch is in position 2 (bridge and middle pickups) then all three pickups will be working together. This gives you a total of 7 unique pickup options. With the mini toggle switch in the off position, the Stratocaster will be as standard.

Premium 250k CTS Potentiometers x 3, split shaft with Vintage Audio Taper.
CRL vintage USA 5 way lever switch.
Mini Toggle Switch SPST 2 Position 2 Pins ON/OFF
Switchcraft Jack Socket.
Capacitor / Sprague Orange Drop or PIO Paper in Oil, Size 0.022uF or 0.047uF.
Hosco Vintage Stratocaster Control Area Aluminium Shielding & Grounding Plate
Gavitt USA made cloth covered 22AWG wire.
Tinned-copper “buss” ground wire.

Controls
Master Volume control.
Tone 1 – Neck pickup adjustment only.
Tone 2 – Middle pickup adjustment.
Switching
Position 1 – Bridge pickup with volume adjustment only.
Position 2 – Bridge pickup with middle pickup in parallel with volume and tone adjustment.
Position 3 – Middle pickup with volume and tone adjustment.
Position 4 – Middle pickup with neck pickup in parallel with volume and tone adjustment.
Position 5 – Neck pickup with volume and tone adjustment.
Will this fit my guitar?
Our pre-wired Fender Stratocaster David Gilmour Wiring vintage harness is wired to fit genuine Fender USA or Mexican control plates. If installing into an imported model or a DIY guitar kit you will need to ensure the Potentiometer holes on the Pickguard will take CTS pots (approx 10mm). This can be done using a round file or carefully with a 10mm drill.
Centre to centre measurements between components
Centre of Switch to volume pot – 48mm.
Centre of volume pot to centre of tone pot 1 – 45mm.
Centre of tone pot 1 to tone pot 2 – 45mm.
These measurements were taken from a USA / Mexican Fender Stratocaster pickguard.

The Fender Stratocaster David Gilmour 7 Way Vintage Wiring Harness is one of the more simple harnesses to fit with 9 wires to solder, 3 x ground and 3 hot wires from the pickups and 1 ground and 1 hot going to the jack and the ground wire from the bridge. All ground wires go to the back of the Volume Potentiometer and the pickup hot wires go to the 3 in a line, unused lugs on the 5 way switch. There is sometimes an additional ground wire from the body which you will need to solder to the back of the Volume Potentiometer.
