Introduction to the Simple Science
The pickup is the beating heart of the electric guitar. The simple science is a pickups construction consists of a magnet with a load of wire coiled around it, which creates a magnetic field to surround the coil.
When you strum a guitar string in the normal fashion of playing it vibrates in this magnetic field and this turns into a electrical current. The current matches the string and the note you are playing. The electrical signal / energy is then passed to the amplifier where is made a lot bigger and turned into sound.
